Le certificat fédéral de capacité en Suisse - Quelles significations sociales pour un diplôme hétérogène?

Abstract

"La Suisse se distingue dans le panorama de la formation professionnelle en Europe par l'hétérogénéité du système éducatif. Le compromis entre logiques formatives différentes se réalise dans le consensus autour du diplôme de référence de la formation professionnelle. Le focus sur le Certificat fédéral de capacité (CFC) évoque la singularité du cas suisse, vrai laboratoire des politiques formatives dans le cadre de la formation professionnelle. Le présent article, suite à la reconstruction institutionnelle et sociohistorique du paysage de la formation professionnelle initiale, se concentre sur l’hétérogénéité du diplôme par excellence en Suisse. Le consensus autour du CFC cache cependant un certain nombre d’enjeux sociologiques majeurs, esquissés dans la dernière partie de l’article. Différenciation scolaire et reproduction sociale, sélectivité sociale, hiérarchisation sociale et ségrégation sociale semblent être autant de facettes cachées de la même réalité institutionnelle en apparence sans failles." A compromise between different educational logics is implemented in the consensus around the most important VET certificate. Focusing on the Federal VET diploma evokes the singularity of the Swiss case that offers a true laboratory of educational VET policies. Following the institutional and socio-historical reconstruction of the landscape of VET, this paper focuses on the heterogeneities of the vocational degree par excellence in Switzerland. However, the consensus around the Federal VET Diploma hides a number of major sociological issues, which will be outlined in the last part of the article. Academic differentiation and social reproduction, social selectivity, social hierarchy and segregation might be all hidden facets of the same institutional reality that seems immaculate at first glance."
