Abstract
„This study examines the integration of immigrant mechanics into Sweden’s auto motive workshop sector. Immigrants are overrepresented in the automotive repair industry. The findings highlight three key processes shaping their integration: learning through practice, reliance on social networks, and economic precarity. […] This paper addresses three specific research questions: How do immigrant workshop owners and employees access formal and informal forms of training in Sweden? In what ways have recent technological developments altered the competence requirements for immigrant workers and entrepreneurs in the car workshops? What roles do training institutions or providers play in supporting skill up grading for immigrants in the car-repair sector?“ (Autorenreferat; BIBB-Doku)
