Education and training in Europe

Abstract

Obwohl Europa eine der reichsten und am meisten gebildeten Regionen der Welt ist, steht es vor einigen schwerwiegenden Herausforderungen: geringes Wirtschaftswachstum, strukturelle Schwierigkeiten auf dem Arbeitsmarkt und zunehmender internationaler Wettbewerb. Politiker und politische Entscheidungsträger stimmen darin überein, dass Europa sein Humankapital stärken muss, seinen ultimativen Wettbewerbsvorteil in der Weltwirtschaft. Dieses Buch befasst sich mit der Akkumulation von Humankapital aus zwei Perspektiven: durch formale Bildung und berufliche Ausbildung. Die wichtigsten Merkmale der allgemeinen und beruflichen Bildung in Europa und die grundlegenden Probleme der aktuellen Bildungs-und Ausbildungssysteme werden beschrieben und erörtert, welche Maßnahmen notwendig sind, um vorhandene Bildungs- und Ausbildungssysteme effizienter zu gestalten.
