Abstract
"Concepts of business and work studies are tied to subject-related scientific and didactic references, as well as to a changing world of work, vocation and life. A curricular core task of the subject "business and work studies" lies in the preparation of pupils for the successful transition into vocational training and work, based on concepts of educational theory, subject-related didactics and practice. The implementation of this perspective calls for subject-related scientific and didactical approaches that have to be developed with a double bind: regarding educational aspirations of young people on the one hand and regarding societal change and the competence demands that come with it on the other. In light of the current transformation process of the world of work, vocation and life, there are new challenges for the future design of the subject "business and work studies" at schools and in academic teacher training. The following article outlines historical, systematic and curricular developments and perspectives of "business and work studies" against the background of societal change."
