Attraktive Arbeitsbedingungen durch New Work? Analyse und Entwicklungsperspektiven für berufsbildende Schulen

Abstract

„‘New Work‘ steht für eine moderne, den Erfordernissen einer dynamischen und komplexen Umwelt gerecht werdende, Gestaltung von Arbeit. Als aktuelles „Buzzword“ ist es ein Label für vielfältige organisatorische Maßnahmen und attraktivere Arbeitsbedingungen, indem z. B. flexibles Arbeiten, eine Verbesserung der Work-Life-Balance, Empowerment und arbeitsbezogene Sinnstiftung als Gestaltungsziele von Arbeit in den Fokus rücken. „New Work“ lädt ein, Arbeit neu zu denken und gibt Anstoß, auch die Arbeitsbedingungen für Lehrkräfte an berufsbildenden Schulen zu modernisieren. Dabei darf eine solche Modernisierung nicht auf eine vom Organisationskontext abstrahierende Übertragung gängiger New Work-Maßnahmen reduziert werden. Im Gegenteil müssen die Ausgangslagen berufsbildender Schulen und ihrer Lehrkräfte berücksichtigt werden, um zentrale Erfordernisse der gelingenden Neugestaltung von Arbeitsbedingungen im Sinne von New Work abzuleiten. Vor diesem Hintergrund analysiert und diskutiert der Beitrag, wie das Attraktivitätspotenzial von New Work für Lehrkräfte an berufsbildenden Schulen entfaltet werden kann. “ (Autorenreferat; BIBB-Doku)

„‘New Work‘ stands for a modern design of work that meets the requirements of a dynamic and complex environment. As a current buzzword, it is a label for a wide range of organizational measures and promises more attractive working conditions by focusing, for example, on flexible working, an improvement in work-life balance, empowerment and meaningful work. New Work invites us to rethink work and also provides an impetus to modernize the working conditions for teachers at vocational schools in Germany which suffer from staff shortages and recruiting problems. However, such modernization must not be reduced to a transfer of common New Work measures independent from the organizational context. Rather the characteristics of vocational schools as organizations must be considered in order to derive central requirements for the redesign of working conditions in sense of New Work. Against this background, the article analyses and discusses how New Work could be attractively and sustainably developed for teachers at vocational schools.“ (authors‘ abstract; BIBB-Doku)
