Abstract
„Referring to East Germany, this contribution analyses the role of two hardly considered actors in the regional further education landscape. This refers to adult education centres (Volkshochschulen), which have been acting as further vocational training providers for a long time and next to their role as (general) education providers as well as coworking spaces as young actors in rural regions. Based on two qualitative studies we point out how these new resp. rediscovered “education providers” can support structural and network development and the design process of education spaces in rural areas. The contribution concludes with two issues. First, we identify in which ways concepts of further vocational training in rural areas are changing. Second, we identify needs and necessities to generate regional network structures and include them in a positive configuration of structural change.“ (authors‘ abstract; BIBB-Doku)
