Abstract

“The use of digital technologies has a disruptive effect on the value creation of companies and the entire economic system. New business models are emerging, old ones are being transformed. Accordingly, work and management processes are also changing, resulting in new competence requirements. This is why the development of digital competencies for the ability to deal with digital technologies is promoted in the discourse of digital transformation. Even though there are some general attempts to model these, there is no distinct approach to digital competencies in the context of business science. For this reason, the paper develops a model for understanding domain-specific digital competencies. Through a literature review, the domain of business and economics is linked to the concept of digital literacy and presented as a competency structure model. It is shown that the discourse provides a good connection for the domain-specific formulation and the model could serve as a basis for further developments.” (authors’ abstract; BIBB-Doku)
