Abstract
„Evidence-based management is considered an essential factor for innovation and development in the German education system. The evaluators act as drivers in this process. Despite its high relevance, little is known about external evaluators, their professional background and training. A survey of 12 evalua¬tors working in the evaluation of public vocational education and training in Germany provides differ¬entiated findings from the perspective of those involved. The results document that evaluators have only limited comprehensive task-related training, which highlights the need for a systematic and institution¬ally anchored professionalisation strategy. Analysis of the interviews also revealed that many evaluators are highly motivated and approach their work with great commitment. Such commitment can contribute to promoting innovation.” (authors’ abstract; BIBB-Doku)
