Wann waren systemrelevante Berufe? Empirische Befunde, politische Debatten und Perspektiven für das postpandemische Zeitalter

Abstract

„Systemrelevante Berufe haben im Zuge der Corona-Pandemie breite gesellschaftliche Aufmerksamkeit erfahren und Fragen der Bewertung beruflicher Aufgaben neu justiert. Der Beitrag bilanziert Ergebnisse sozialwissenschaftlicher Studien zu systemrelevanten Berufen in Deutschland und analysiert die Wahrnehmung sowie Bewertung der Kategorie in Politik und Öffentlichkeit. Dazu werden parlamentarische Äußerungen auf Bundesebene vor, während und nach der Pandemie ausgewertet und mit einer Analyse von Twitter-Daten komplementiert und kontrastiert. Diese Betrachtung verdeutlicht erste Hinweise auf die Bedeutung und Persistenz von systemrelevanten Berufen als Kategorie der arbeits- und industrie-soziologischen Forschung im postpandemischen Zeitalter.“ (Autorenreferat; BIBB-Doku)

„Essential occupations have received widespread attention in (the wake of) the coronavirus pandemic and have raised questions about the valuation of occupational tasks. This article provides an overview on essential occupations in Germany and analysis the perception and evaluation of the category in political and public discourse. To do so, we analyse parliamentary debates at federal level before, during and after the pandemic. We supplement and contrast these with an analysis of Twitter data, regarding the perception and valuation of essential occupations. Our analysis provides initial indications of the importance and persistence of essential occupations as a category for the sociology of work and professions in the post-pandemic era.“ (authors‘ abstract; BIBB-Doku)
