Abstract
“Starting point of this BIBB Report is the growing importance of remote work in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, also in the intermediate qualification sector. We address the question of the extent to which experience with Working from Home (WfH) is already possible and available during apprenticeships. Our analyses of company data (BIBB Training Panel 2021) point to the following factors that increase the likelihood of apprentices being offered WfH opportunities: company size, general WfH strategy, training in commercial/administrative occupations, high level of digital equipment, and employees‘ participation in continuing training in the area of remote working. The findings shed light on where WfH for apprentices could become a re levant component in a modern and future-oriented vocational training for a digitized working world, even beyond the pandemic.” (BIBB-Doku)
