Vocational education and Training in France : short description

Abstract

This overview of vocational education and training in France has been produced to mark France's Presidency 2008 of the Council of the EU. It forms part of the series of short descriptions regularly published by Cedefop on national VET systems. This publication describes the French vocational training system. The main aspects like the general policy context of education, the recent developments in VET, the institutional framework, inital VET, continuing VET, trainers and teachers, skills and further more are specified. Continuing vocational training is playing an increasingly important role in the context of lifelong learning in order to continually enhance the professional capabilities of the individual.
