Future skill needs in Europe : medium-term forecast. Synthesis report

Abstract

In der vorliegenden Veröffentlichung wird erstmals eine einheitliche und umfassende mittelfristige Prognose für Beschäftigung und Qualifikationsbedarf in ganz Europa vorgestellt. Es werden gesamtwirtschaftliche Projektionen und alternative Szenarien für die einzelnen Mitgliedstaaten und aggregierte Ergebnisse auf europäischer Ebene entwickelt. Vergleichbare Daten über die künftige Entwicklung der Beschäftigung nach Wirtschaftssektoren, Beruf und Qualifikation bis 2015 werden für alle Mitgliedstaaten bereitgestellt. Um die Transparenz auf den europäischen Arbeitsmärkten zu verbessern, die Qualifikationsniveaus der Bevölkerung zu erhöhen und Missverhältnisse zwischen Qualifikationsangebot und -nachfrage zu vermeiden, sind Informationen über die künftige Entwicklung von Fähigkeiten und Kompetenzen unabdingbar. Relevante Erkenntnisse könnten einen Beitrag zur Erreichung der gesetzten Ziele in den europäischen Beschäftigungs- und Strategien des lebenslangen Lernens leisten und sind von wesentlicher Bedeutung für den Aufbau einer europäischen Wissensgesellschaft. (BIBB-Doku)This publication presents - for the first time - a consistent and comprehensive medium-term forecast of employment and skill needs across the whole of Europe. It develops macroeconomic projections and alternative scenarios for each Member State and aggregate results at European level. It provides data on future employment developments by economic sector, occupation and qualification until 2015 and uses comparative data for all Member States. The need to improve transparency on European labour markets, increase the skill levels of populations and prevent skill mismatches make information about the future development of skills and competences indispensable. Relevant findings could help achieve the objectives set in European employment and lifelong learning strategies and are essential for developing a European knowledge-based society. (BIBB-Doku)
