Abstract

(Autorenreferat; BIBB-Doku)
"Non-formal and informal forms of learning have become increasingly important in recent years and have been able to take an important place in pedagogical and educational policy discourse. Unsatisfactory answers from these ranks can be found with regard to the measurability and recognition of these educational achievements, and the question of the relationship to formal educational qualifications also remains unanswered. This article explores the question of whether and to what extent competencies acquired outside of educational institutions are components of vocational education and training and how they are anchored in the educational systems of Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The analysis shows that non-formally and informally acquired competencies are not systematically recorded, although the National and European Qualifications Frameworks would provide the necessary instruments. Thus, the cross-national comparability of vocational education and training is reserved for formal qualifications." (author's abstract; BIBB-Doku)
