Abstract
“This paper highlights the potentials of the methodological use of gamification in the sense of game design elements for the motivational promotion of self-directed as well as collaborative learning of students. Based on relevant literature, a foundation is thus created to stimulate discussion in vocational and business education and to offer an opportunity to critically examine individual strategies as well as to (re)position themselves. The linking of elements such as badges, levels and leaderboards towards the individual motivation of students of vocational and business education programs in different learning settings will be discussed. The paper intends to provide an entry point for a discourse on the meaningful embedding of game-based elements in higher education didactics.” (author’s abstract; BIBB-Doku)
