Abstract
(Autorenreferat; BIBB-Doku)
"The essay argues that and why- contrary to political efforts - the German Dual System of VET cannot be transferred to other European countries. Using an analysis instrument called "system of gainful employment" it is explicated that in each country different regulations can be identified. Specifically the Dual System is embedded in a neo-corporatist system which means that the employers' associations and particularly also the Trade Unions - both perceived as corporations - are most influential for VET, the companies having "Co-Ownership" that is important for a sustainable and intense engagement. This indispensable condition is not to be found in the examples of other regulations: Portugal (traditional), UK (market-oriented), France (bureaucratic)." (author's abstract; BIBB-Doku)
