Vocational training and lifelong learning in Australia and Germany

Abstract

Grundlage des vorliegenden Bandes sind Vorträge eines Seminars zum Thema "Vocational Training and Lifelong Learning in Australia and Germany", das im Mai 2000 vom Australischen Zentrum an der Universität Potsdam durchgeführt wurde. Es zeigte sich, dass die Herausforderungen der Wissensgesellschaft sowie die Bedeutung lebensbegleitenden Lernens in beiden Ländern ähnlich gesehen werden. Aus deutscher Sicht sind insbesondere die australischen Strategien zur Förderung lebensbegleitenden Lernens von Interesse. Mit Hilfe einer nationalen Marketingstrategie versucht die australische Regierung eine Lernkultur zu fördern, die Beschäftigte dazu bringen soll, durch ständige formelle oder informelle Weiterbildung ihre Qualifikationen zu verbessern, und auf dem Arbeitsmarkt konkurrenzfähig zu bleiben. Die ausgewählten Beiträge liefern sowohl Daten als auch Analysen die zeigen, dass zwar vielfach ähnliche Probleme in beiden Ländern bestehen, teilweise aber unterschiedliche Ansätze zur Problemlösung gewählt wurden.
