Abstract

(Autorenreferat; BIBB-Doku)
"With the goal of creating a coherent overall identity, the individual strives to reduce dissonance. Taking into account the high importance of sustainability in the everyday life of young people on the one hand and outdated means of organization on the other hand, tensions can arise between those taught in vocational training courses and one's own values, goals and interests, which can make a stable identity development difficult. To deal with these conflicts, the article presents constructive and defensive coping. Coping strategies are understood as cognitive and behavioral efforts to master, reduce or tolerate subjective demands and those of the social environment in order to create a balance between the environment and the individual. The project "Sustainable Management in craft-based Food Production" illustrates additional qualifications as a way that young people can help to create this balance. The result of the article is that young people need offers within the scope of their vocational training that enable young people to develop their own professional, and thus coherent, identity."
